Brother charged with murder in the death of his two sisters
On the same day that Nasiba A-Noor and Asma A-Noor were buried, their brother 29-year-old Musab A-Noor has been charged with their murder.

Musab A-Noor refused to appear in court on Sunday but was charged with first and second-degree murder.

The bodies of the Somali-Canadian sisters was found at around 9 pm on Friday after police were called to the home on McCarthy Road in Ottawa.

He was arrested near the family home shortly after the murder and was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

Friends and those close to the family have told Hiiraan Online that Musab suffered from mental illnesses and the community at large speculate that it played a factor in the girl's death.

Ottawa police are reporting that the suspect is on suicide watch and refuses to leave his cell.

Shortly after Musab was charged, hundreds of members of the Somali and Muslim community gathered at Jami Omar Mosque in the cities west-end to pay their respects and for the Janaza prayer.

The sisters were laid to rest side by side at the Ottawa Muslim Cemetry.

After the burial and a brief prayer, word began to circulate that the brother had been formally charged with the murder. More difficult news to swallow for a shaken community still reeling from a tragedy.
